Originally from London and now residing in Hauraki, Anne Marie was motivated to run for Council after working with a divided local community to successfully secure a fairer deal from the mine for those residents living close to new underground mining activities in the Waihi area.

Now in her third term as a Councillor, she has played an active role in several Council Committees and currently chairs the Community Partnerships Committee, focusing on Social Strategy and Economic Development. She is also a trained hearings commissioner and a dedicated member of several local community organisations.

When it comes to working with the community, Anne Marie embraces disagreement, firmly believing that the best outcomes are achieved when we consider all perspectives. Her approach is grounded in the belief that collaboration and open dialogue, where everyone's voice is heard, are vital to fostering a community where everyone can thrive.

She also believes that by sharing knowledge and experiences with each other, councils are better equipped to deal with the many issues we currently face, particularly in the climate adaptation space. As a panellist, she will be sharing her experience working with communities on local adaptation plans in the Hauraki district.
