Alex's journey into local government is fuelled by a genuine desire to give back and ensure every voice is heard. First elected in 2016, Alex balances her role as Invercargill’s youngest Councillor with heading Marketing and Client Experience at a local business advisory and chartered accountancy firm and serves as the Co-Chair of LGNZ’s Young Elected Members Network.

Alex’s most fulfilling experiences stem from collaborating with diverse communities, enabling her to enact meaningful transformations within her region. With a rich background in a variety of governance and management roles across the sport, youth development, and charitable sectors, Alex leverages her expertise to ensure that Invercargill achieves optimal outcomes.

She understands the significant impact of local government decisions on her community, from major initiatives to minor adjustments that shape daily life. She envisions a future where local government unites with communities to convert ideas into concrete actions that drive positive change.
